Edgar T. Adams 1877 birth date? (no replies)

I am looking for information on the parents of my great-grandfather, Edgar T(homas) Adams.

Draft registration cards and marriage licenses confirm that Edgar's date of birth was January 8, 1877 in Franklin, but he does not show up on the 1880 census. By 1899, he is living in Pittsburgh.

Family legend has it that Edgar is the son of Ann Brackenridge, who married Thomas D(aft) Adams, both of whom lived in the Franklin area for many years, but I can't find ANY record of his birth or his parents' names.

The 1880 census shows that Thomas and Annie have three children: Jennie, John and Edward, with John and Edward being twins born in 1875. However, there is no further information on Edward (that I can find -- I'm new at this) after the 1880 census record, so I wondered if maybe the entry was in error, and it was actually Edgar instead? Could the name have been misheard, and the date just coped from John's entry, the line above? Maybe? Or, does Edgar belong to another family altogether?

Thomas D. Adams was the son of Josiah Adams. Annie Brackenridge was the daughter of Alexander Brackenridge, and I believe she lived in the Pittsburgh area until her marriage, about 1870. If they are Edgar's parents, further information on their family and ancestors would be fabulous. It's been a wonderfully interesting family to learn about, so it would be nice to find out whether they are actually MY family!

Thank you for any help or direction you can provide.
